Ominous skies - July 6, 2008
BackI was in playing Combat Arms when I was notified of some severe weather approaching. Just as I got into the field, the cell was closing in pretty fast. Good lightning at the end. ------------------------------- City of Edmonton - St. Albert - Sherwood Park 4:09 PM MDT Sunday 6 July 2008 Severe thunderstorm warning for City of Edmonton - St. Albert - Sherwood Park continued At 4:00 PM MDT PM MDT a line of strong thunderstorms moving through Edmonton is observed on the lightning detection network. The storms are moving eastward at 40 km/h. Pea to grape size hail has been reported with the storms. Large hail and strong winds are the main threat with these storms. This is a warning that severe thunderstorms are imminent or occurring in these regions. Remember that some severe thunderstorms produce tornadoes. Listen for updated warnings. Please refer to the latest public forecasts for further details. At 4:00 PM MDT PM MDT a line of strong thunderstorms moving through Edmonton is observed on the lightning detection network. The storms are moving eastward at 40 km/h. Pea to grape size hail has been reported with the storms. Large hail and strong winds are the main threat with these storms. A very unstable airmass combined with daytime heating will likely produce some severe thunderstorms with large hail, strong wind gusts and funnel clouds this afternoon. Grape size hail was reported at 3:00 PM MDT at busby west of Edmonton.
