Qik is Out of Beta and Works on Symbian and Windows ...

Back

Qik, pronounced "quick," is enabling a select group of video bloggers, some network news organizations and even Vatican officials to report and document developments with the camera on a smart phone. No longer the province of a select group, Qik opens up today to the public. Also, users with both Symbian and Windows Mobile smart phones can use the system. There are some interesting new social functions in which users can "narrowcast" to just a selected group. To get an update on the development of Qik and where it might be going, I spoke with Bhaskar Roy. He filled me on on some of the uses including the use of Qik by Vatican officials to document the activities of the Pope. For an in depth user experience, check out this account by CNET's Daniel Terdiman. -- Andy Plesser, Executive Producer
