Economic Forecast mid 2008
BackThanks to everyone who has watched the first Economic forecast. I have been working on a mid year 2008 one and while I was close on some in the first one, I am at little more bolder in my attempt this time. Also, I want to apologize for looking down at my prompter. I just did not rehearse this one enough and I wanted to get it up before July came and August went. Predictions July 23, 2008 Google will dramatically transform YouTube in the next 6 months. It could be sold or it could be closed. Reason: YouTube has yet to show even the possibility for a profit and with the recent Viacom lawsuit, it is a litigation nightmare. WalMart will file for bankruptcy by early 09 as their credit is no longer good in China and middle America trims the inessential items out of their lives. The US government will step in to "save" WalMart, but only for the govt's use as the distributor for food rations due to the coming crash in the agribusiness. The faked peak oil crisis and now food crisis created by ethanol laws combined with a run from the US dollar will continue to drive oil and food commodities up. John McCain will bow out of the presidential race in September. Crude oil futures will see a peak of $180 a barrel by December 08. Gold will see a rally in mid september to $1350/ounce but will quickly back off due to strategic gold selling by the market manipulators, including the IMF. Honeybee deaths continue to mount along with the evidence that recently approved pesticides and genetically modified crops are killing the bees. Some US cities will begin banning Tasers used by law enforcement, due to the recent Taser deaths in the US. Inflation will cause 7-10% increase in prices between September and December. The market manipulators including speculators in the futures markets and hedge fund managers in the equities markets will cause wild fluctuations in their respective markets. From the selling of contacts to trigger others' stop-limit losses to trading in the last few hours of Friday, the evidence is in the charts and this will be brought to the public's attention these next 9 months. What can you do: Plant a victory garden, prepare for a long term food price increases and discuss the survival of natural disaster scenarios. Begin dealing locally for your needs. Start a co-operative, a local network of small buyers that deal directly with a vendor. Bartering develops relationships and these are stronger in a time of crisis. Make your politicians know that you are locally and globally aware by advising them on upcoming legislation. All the best.
