Afternoon Riser Richard Hort original
BackI wrote this song thirteen years ago this week. I think that particular October was a grim one for one reason or another. Can't remember why exactly, but it caused me to write this from beneath several togs (Terry Wogan please forgive me) so something occured. It was a beautiful day today in Basildon, but at night, that day is only as bright as the memory. Enjoy!? Sorry.. Afternoon Riser Afternoon riser where has your life gone You sleep through the morning You've never seen the dawn But the midday sun cant hide all that is wrong So if I were you afternoon riser I'd sleep on Here comes the winter and the weather turns cold But it's a little bit colder When youve no-one to hold So pull up the duvet draw the pillows close in And afternoon riser Dont wake 'til the spring Like me you were wondering if there was someone for you A reason for living Like other people do Then I found her and lost her and half myself too And when it finally sinks in I'll sleep the whole day through Afternoon riser wipe the sleep from your eyes I know that it's early But you should realise Carpe a Diem seize the day as it begins Miss your chance once too often And the nights will draw in
