Hedgecock Plays 911 Calls of Monti Case - 10-2-2007 - Part 2
BackOn October 2, 2007, Roger Hedgecock played the 911 calls of the independent witnesses who witnessed the attack on John Monti on November 19, 2006. The calls told a story 180-degrees different from what the City Attorney Michael Aguirre's office alleged and the sworn testimony of the callers as well as the calls themselves helped demolish the City Attorney's case. One caller even surfaced DURING THE TRIAL because the news media wasn't telling truth and she and her sons were NEVER interviewed by the San Diego Police Department. This among other things led to jurors acquitting Monti by a 12-0 margin. Michael Aguirre in a campaign speech called the prosecution of John Monti a "tough case," yet his role as a prosecutor isn't to try "tough cases" but rather to find the truth. Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson, who served as the chief American prosecutor of Nazi leaders at the Nuremburg war crimes trials, said, "when a [prosecutor] acts from malice or other base motives, he is one of the worst" forces in our society. A prosecutor's duty is that justice be done, not to win a "tough case" and merely convict. Monti was targeted with the hope that he'll be falsely convicted to cover-up the prostitution of Mexican minors in McGonigle Canyon and later be sued civilly by rapacious forces for who the end justifies the means. Hedgecock graphically demonstrates here how insane it was to charge Monti in the first place.
