Anomie Trailer
BackAnomie Definition: A condition or malaise in individuals often occurring during time of transition. Symptoms include feelings of depression, anxiety or an absence of standards or values which lead to self destructive behavior. I made this film for my senior thesis, where I combined the 19th century sociological theory of Anomie with the modern college experience to create a documentary/allegory hybrid. One part of the film is made up of field interviews taken from various college students discussing the difficulties and pressures of adjusting to college life. The other part is allegorical story about a 19th century farm couple dissatisfied with living off the land decide to venture out into the modern world as 21st century college students. The film shows how the temptations and pitfalls of modernism lead the protagonists down a path of self destruction.
