Comino Island- Malta

Back

We hopped on the Captain Morgan "Atlantis" at Sliema & cruised to Comino Island in search of the Blue Lagoon. What we found was a whole heap of tourists & not very much comfortable land to park ones body. Comino Island is a tiny little island (measuring 1.35 sq. miles in area) between Malta & Gozo Island, surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea. Named after the cumin herb that once flourished on the Island, Comino has a permanent population of only four residents. Bodra & I escaped the crowd around the Blue Lagoon & instead had a swim at Donkey Bay with less than a dozen other tourists. The water was very salty but warm & lovely to bathe in. I felt assured of its cleanliness when I saw little sprats & fish swimming with me. Apparently Comino is a bird sanctuary and nature reserve but I didn't see much of either.
