Nose wheel of Air India plane collapses

Back

The nose wheel gear of Air India Mumbai-Dubai flight collapsed during a pre-flight inspection at the parking bay of the Chhatra pati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai. Airport sources told TIMES NOW that Air India engineers were working on the aircraft, a leased Boeing 777-200 ER (Extended Range) when the accident occurred. The Air India flight was being readied to fly to Dubai and was being prepared for boarding. Though no one was injured in the incident, the plane suffered extensive damage. The aircraft was parked at bay 48 and the passengers were about to board when the incident took place. An alternative aircraft was made available to operate the flight (AI 717) which took off for Dubai at 1600 hrs more than an hour, he said. This is the second incident involving an Air India aircraft within two days. On Thursday, a Mumbai-Chennai flight was delayed for more than four hours when its door was damaged after an aerobridge (passenger boarding bridge) slammed against it.
