The pope commissioned him for a ceiling that he never really payed. The story behind my latest art illustration in markers, pens and color pencils is dedicated to his Majesty, The Godfather of ART! SONG BY Marc Almond (LITANY FOR A RETURN) BACCHUS C.1497 Marble Statue is at (Bargello) Florence Italy. Bacchus (1497) is a marble sculpture by the Italian High Renaissance sculptor, painter, architect and poet Michelangelo. The statue is somewhat over life-size and depicts Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, in a evolutionarily inebriated state. Along with the Pietà it is one of only two sculptures than can be attributed with any certainty to the artist's first period in Rome.
