Extremes of hot, cold, speed, pressure, or any otherwise severe chemical environment always present great engineering challenges. The solutions required to meet such challenges are always a catalyst for innovation and naturally make up the dreams of great engineers. CompactRIO is NI's ruggedized PAC platform. It is designed to be small, fast, and reliable. The following clip shows two cool applications and one crash test (David Letterman style). Here are a few more details we received from the experts who engineered each of these projects you'll see in the video.... 1. Rocket - CompactRIO controls the roll, pitch, yaw and stage deployment a 9-foot rocket. 2. Skydiver - CompactRIO used to record roll, pitch, yaw, XYZ acceleration, air pressure, GPS position, and altitude of a skydiver during free fall. 3. Throw it off the roof - (of our 8-story building) to prove just how tough it is...it never stopped working.
