That's true - but I expect most comments like that were partially a wind up exercise. We should all appreciate any steam on the mainline and enjoy it while we can. I just prefer Southern because it's what I grew up with but it wouldn't stop me enjoying anything else. Chris

I think those who've criticised Tangmere in the past (such as the Torbay Express incident last year) might be interested in taking a look at this. 13 on up the Long Drag? That's not to be sneezed at.

Thanks very much. It was great to see some Southern steam up here and Tangmere did us proud. The S&C is a great place to film steam so even my stuff comes out ok sometimes. Chris

quality vid, i enjoyed watching each and every sec of this vid mate this is the top stuff when it comes to filming 34067 Tangmere. tangmere is by far my best steam engine cant beat the shape and the performance! that place where u were filming this its gotta be the best place in England to film steam i cant see another place like it. g8 vid mate 100% 5***** vid!!! top stuff

Thanks for the helpful comments Mark(?) It's a "progressive" zoom button and in trying to slow the zoom down I keep going too slow (or stop!!) I sometimes think I overdo the use of the zoom. Chris

It's not easy to be sure from the outside but the following points may be relevant ... it was a fair load (12 + support coach) for any loco, the footplate crew did well to make sure she didn't lose her feet, she seemed to be working hard but there was no real increase in speed as she approached the tunnel entrance (which often/normally happens) and the exhaust system really is quieter than most locos. Make of that what you will!!! Chris
