Well, the RNG makes it different for everybody, so it's completely possible for a character to level up in any way, no matter their growths. I guess my Matthew just isn't a very lucky one, lol.

8? really? i level him up to lvl 20 thief and he had 16 str :S (dont used hacks or boost)and he was slower than legault not by far but i think the points that he didnt gain in speed went to str :D?

Where are you getting that Matthew has much more strenght than Legault? I'm sorry, but most of the time when I tried to use Matthew, he only had about 8 strength by a lvl 20 thief while Legault would get 12 or so. Also, MATTHEW is the one with greater speed, not Legault. Although Legault is superior in def, res, and str. And sure, Matthew's skill and luck are better but hey, I only care about strength and speed for most units :D In my experiences, Legault is FAR better.

Hmmm, Matthew has more, much more strenght than Legault and more hp too, Legault has more defence, speed and resistance but not so long and skill and luck Matthew is better, so why do you say Legault its superior? (i have leveled them up with the same enemies, not using boost items and thats the result)

Thanks for the song. And I agree with you that Matthew isn't better than Legault.I only used him for stealing and unlocking doors and treasure chests and then when Legault came in I replaced Matthew for him because he could kill too and not only steal and unlock.

The song? It's "Rise" by Yoko Kanno. And yeah, Legault = ownage. Although, I'm sure many people would say Matthew is better (Which he ISN'T :p )
