wat is 'most diff for a singer is to reach those high note'? as a former choir member, i noe v clearly dat it is v ez to acquire singing technics, but not ez to infuse sincerity into a song. besides, labelling someone as asia songbird on one person based on a single criteria (can hit high notes) is over simplification of matter. juz cos A likes B, does not mean dat A can deride other ppl or other ppl's pref. there is NO SUCH THING AS ONLY ONE SINGLE SONGBIRD. stop living out of a well

i like sandy too but singing a song with feelings can do by a dozen of singer..the most difficult for a singer is to reach those high note...even me can sing like sandy...

i dont listen to canto pop or madarin any way.....u can call them canto or mandarin superstar.. but theres only one asias song bird.....make ur own title..search this regine the legitimate asias song bird......

I see where the other comments made by the rest come from. It is true that, especially like what rise17 said, comparing artistes cheapens music and singing. As much as I don't like Regine's singing, I do think she has shown that Asians are just as good as belting as African-Americans (Whitney) or Canadians (Celine) for that matter. But I still prefer Sandy's version though, subtle and beautiful, a really authentic Oriental Chinese rendition of the song.

I would like to reiterate that I don't like Regine's voice and her singing style. I just feel that Sheena's song shouldn't have ben belted out the way that Regine has done, which is why I felt so moved by Sandy's rendition. That was the purpose of my first comment. Secondly, I would like to state that as an Asian, I do not agree with the Regine's title as "Asia's songbird". Asia has many other "songbirds" who can sing fabulously as well, not only Sandy, but Siti Burhaliza, Faye Wong etc.

I don't think there is a need to top the international charts to prove that an artiste is good. Are you insinuating that none of the cantopop or mandarin singers are good then?

Fine, go ahead and say that Sandy's voice is not amazing. I don't give a damn, because I feel that Regine's voice ain't amazing either. To compare Sandy to your teen amateur singers? I could easily compare your dear Regine to those KTV amatuers who scream at the top of their lungs as well. The English-speaking market is HUGE. Regine, if she was that fantastic would have sold dozens more! The Cantopop and Mandarin pop market is smaller. Yet Sandy moves more units than Regine!
